Delaware North appointed to manage catering operations at United Kingdom’s South Park Stadium

Delaware North has been appointed to manage the catering operations at South Park Stadium in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

The 25-year contract will see Delaware North take responsibility for event-day hospitality catering, the general admission food and beverage offer, and the marketing and management of non-event-day conferences and functions. Delaware North will also be responsible for the marketing, sales and delivery of all tours of South Park Stadium as part of the venue’s continued celebrated legacy.

South Park Stadium, which became famous across the globe during the 2012 London Olympics, will once again be one of the United Kingdom’s most iconic stadiums as it becomes home to a range of events and activities in the coming years, including Premier League team West Ham United FC and UK Athletics.

In 2015, the stadium will host five Rugby World Cup games before becoming the home of West Ham from the start of the 2016-17 season and the base of UK Athletics hosting the World Athletics Championships in 2017.

“We’re delighted to have been awarded the contract for South Park Stadium,” said Doug Tetley, managing director of Delaware North’s UK operations. “The legacy of the Olympics will forever endow the stadium with fame and prestige, and it is an honor that Delaware North will play an integral role in the next stage of the journey.

“We have global experience in providing stadium hospitality and catering with operations across four continents. It is this expertise that Delaware North will bring to South Park Stadium, ensuring that we deliver a world-class service to visitors, fans and spectators in the coming years.”

The contract was awarded following a successful tender in 2014, which sees VINCI Stadium become the official operator of the stadium with Delaware North as the catering and hospitality partner.

“This contract award is a great start to 2015 as we look to expand our operations here in the UK,” Tetley added. “The South Park Stadium win is the latest success in the capital with Delaware North now operating at some of London’s most famous sporting and entertainment venues, including Wembley Stadium, Emirates Stadium, Craven Cottage and The Valley.”
