Xindii Hew earned the coveted gold tamper as the winner of the Battle of the Beans, a barista competition across Delaware North-operated coffee outlets at Perth Airport in Western Australia.
Each of Delaware North’s eight coffee outlets at Perth Airport had the opportunity to put forward its coffee ambassadors for the competition, which included support from key partners. Competing baristas were offered access to expert training by their respective brand coaches prior to the competition.
“After intensive training and support, our baristas battled for the Battle of the Bean champion title in front of a passionate crowd, which counted numerous Delaware North team members, clients, customers and suppliers,” said Yolen Ithier, senior human resources advisor for Delaware North at the airport.
“The judges of the Battle of the Beans were selected from across our coffee partners and were engaged for their outstanding industry knowledge and expertise.”
Taking home the silver tamper was Tegan Allum of 6000 Acres while Conor McErlean from Four Alls was awarded the bronze tamper. Other finalists were Christine Gorton of Two Brews, Alison Moles of Food Store and Sabal Paneru of Food Store.
The outlets involved in the competition were Giancarlo, Two Brews, Food Store, Fraiche, 6000 Acres, Harvest, Four Alls and Toby’s Estate.
