17th annual SXSW music showcase begins at Austin’s airport

The annual South by Southwest (SXSW) event in Austin, Texas, begins for air travelers as soon as they enter Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, where Delaware North operates food, beverage and retail services – in addition to sponsoring a live-music program.
 
SXSW, of course, is an annual set of film, interactive media, and music festivals and conferences that austinsxsw-7684479brings guests from all over the world to Austin.
 
In addition to its regularly scheduled lives shows each week, Delaware North and the Austin airport will be presenting sanctioned SXSW showcases featuring local performers on March 14, 15, and 21 – making it the first and last performances of the annual event.
 
The 17th annual SXSW Austin-Bergstrom International Airport Showcase features:
 

  • March 14: Suzanna Choffel (Indie soul/jazzy pop) – 1 p.m.-3 p.m. Charlie Belle (Alternapop) – 3:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m.
  • March 15: Jai Malano (modern blues vocalist) – 1 p.m.-3 p.m. Faye & The Fayettes (smart soul-pop) – 3:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m.
  • March 21: Jackie Venson (Indie blues guitarist and vocalist) – 12:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m. Carson McHone (alt-country/Americana songwriter) – 3 p.m.-5 p.m.

 
Delaware North has been a sponsor of live music at Austin-Bergstrom since its inception. The airport showcase is also made possible by Pepsi, Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI), and Bud Light.
 
Austin-Bergstrom International Airport regularly hosts 21 live music performances in five different venues, Monday through Friday. Daily performances take place at four venues: Earl Campbell’s Sports Bar, The Saxon Pub, Annie’s Café & Bar, and the Asleep at the Wheel Stage at Ray Benson’s Roadhouse. Waterloo also serves as a venue on Fridays.
