The Lodge announces addition of 25 cottages

The Lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake recently announced plans for 25 Cape Cod-style cottages, many with views of Lake Erie, as part of a unique partnership between Ashtabula County, Delaware North and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

Located on adjacent property east of The Lodge, the cottages will feature large windows and covered porches with Adirondack chairs. The majority of the cottages will feature two bedrooms. Each will include a living area, kitchenette and gas fireplace. One-bedroom models will be available with accommodations for guests with accessibility needs. Each cluster of cottages will share a community area and fire pit.

“The new cottages, which are being developed as part of a public-private partnership with Delaware cottagerendering-9005621North, will help take Ashtabula County tourism to the next level,” said Ashtabula County Commissioner Dan Claypool. “Delaware North, a top-quality company and industry leader, has been a true partner with the county in the development of The Lodge and its contributions to what has become a $400 million county-wide industry, accounting for one in every seven jobs.

“The addition of the cottages will provide new opportunities to serve guests seeking a different type of lodging experience as well as make the most of existing Lodge resources."

Cottage guests will have access to all of The Lodge’s offerings, including use of the indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs, and the rental of bikes, snowshoes and cross-country skis.

“We know some guests are interested in different lodging experiences. From families and group gatherings to weddings and reunions, the cottages offer the serenity of the lake, a way for families to stay together, and the feeling of community when cottages are clustered around shared fire pits. Delaware North has successfully developed this concept in other locations and is pleased to collaborate with Ashtabula County on this project,” said Eric Frantz, general manager of The Lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake.

“Because the lake is an attraction in every season, some cottages will remain open year-round,” he added. “We think our guests will find the cottages appealing even in winter, each with a warm fireplace and large windows to enjoy the lake.”

Construction will begin in February, with a slated completion date of early summer 2016.
