The Lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake celebrates New Year, plans upgrades in 2018

The New Year got off to a roaring start at The Lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake – and its New Year’s Eve celebrations were just the beginning of what the property has in store for 2018.

The Lodge, which Delaware North operates for Ohio’s Ashtabula County, hosted two New Year’s Eve parties: a grand gala in its ballroom, and an intimate party in Horizons Restaurant. Both events featured a 1920s Prohibition theme.

Meanwhile, General Manager Eric Frantz gave the local Star Beacon newspaper a preview of some of the upgrades that The Lodge has planned in the upcoming year.

When it comes to future growth, [Frantz] said guests have expressed interest in getting into the water and 2018 will open up that option more with a dock likely to be built near the Canopy Tours.

“We are looking at a row boat rental on Cowles Creek,” Frantz said, adding the boats would not be on the lake but head south into the park.

Boats were used at the property in the early 20th Century.

“It is kind of nostalgic,” he said.

In the meantime, a major renovation to the Lodge lobby and corridors has started and expectations are it will be completed in April, Frantz said.

Another project will likely be bid out in September as the Lodge plans to use money from a “resort fee” collected from each guest to improve the property by building a portico to cover guests arriving at the front of the property in case of rain or snow.

The planned upgrades to The Lodge are in addition to the new Lake Erie Canopy Tours that opened in September 2017.
