MetLife Stadium hosts gala event for New Jersey governor

The Delaware North Sportservice team at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., last week catered the inaugural ball for the new governor of New Jersey, Phil Murphy.

A massive tent was constructed on the MetLife Stadium field, which ordinarily serves as the playing surface for the NFL’s New York Giants and New York Jets, to host 1,900 guests to welcome the new governor. The event featured a live band, and Delaware North’s catering efforts included passed hors d’oeuvres, action stations and an open bar.

The onsite culinary team prepared a New Jersey-centric menu that included Korean barbecue pork bao, disco fries, mini ham-and-cheese sandwiches, mini sausage-pepper- and-onion sandwiches and an Italian market.

Under the direction of General Manager Bill Lohr, thorough planning and high levels of organization were noted as keys to the event’s success.

“The entire management team came together with proper planning, communication and execution to pull off a seamless event,” said Lina Baquero, Delaware North’s human resources manager at MetLife Stadium. “The governor and his guests left the event raving with reviews of the food and level of service.”
