Fans Vote Online at and at Jacobs Field between May 31 and July 2 to choose the “Indians Signature Dog”

BUFFALO, N.Y. (May 30, 2007) – Fan balloting has proven very popular in selecting baseball’s All Star teams, and now Cleveland Indians fans can not only vote for their favorite players, but their favorite hot dog as well. Delaware North Companies Sportservice has teamed with Cleveland Indians and Sugardale Foods to create the “Indians Signature Dog” promotion for fans to choose the official hot dog at Jacobs Field. 

From May 31–July 2 at Jacobs Field and Online at Indians fans can vote for one of three Sugardale hotdogs to be the dog of choice at Jacobs Field. 

The choices are: 

  • “Frank” – the traditional all-beef hotdog.
  • “Smokey” – a Polish-style smoked sausage.
  • “Burnie” – a red hot style dog.

The polish-style and red hot recipes have been specially created by Sugardale Foods for the Signature Dog promotion and are not currently available in the marketplace.

"Hot dogs are a big part of the ballpark experience and this will give Cleveland fans a chance to select a signature dog exclusively for Jacobs Field."

“The Indians organization is thrilled to allow the fans the opportunity to make the decision on what the Signature Dog at the ballpark should be,” said Cleveland Indians vice president of public relations Bob DiBiasio. “The hotdog is our #1 selling food item. So it’s important for us to give the fans what they want. We thank our partners Sugardale and Delaware North Companies Sportservice for their cooperation with this promotion.” 

Voting begins on May 31 at the Indians – Tigers game at Jacobs Field and ends on July 2. All voters will be registered to win a summertime sweepstakes consisting of a deluxe barbeque grill and a special “Grilling Extravaganza” prize of Sugardale products. 

Fans are able to sample the three “Signature Dog” choices at Indians games on May 31 vs. Detroit; June 5 vs. Kansas City; June 7 vs. Kansas City; June 16 vs. the Atlanta Braves and June 19 vs. Philadelphia. 

Tasting locations on those dates at Jacobs Field are at: Gate B and C on the lower level; the Club Lounge; Mezzanine Level and Section 555 in the Upper Deck. 

Fans wanting more than a sample of the Signature Dog candidates can purchase each of the hotdogs at the Hounds by the Pounds concession stand located in the Market Pavilion at Jacobs Field, beginning on June 5th through the conclusion of the promotion on July 2. 

The winning signature Dog will be announced and launched at the July 13 Indians-Royals contest.
