Tune in: Delaware North Sportservice chef takes on Food Network’s ‘Chopped’ competition

Manny Slomovits, executive chef for Delaware North Sportservice at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, is used to high-pressure situations in the kitchen. But he faced one of his toughest cooking challenges during the September 2017 filming of an episode of the popular Food Network show “Chopped.”

The episode featuring Slomovits will air at 10 p.m. ET on Jan. 16 and will showcase his culinary skills against other professional chefs in a fast-paced cooking competition.

The episode is part of Chopped’s “Gold Medal Games” series, which is a five-part tournament that challenges elite culinary competitors to create gold medal-worthy dishes, focusing on a specific cooking technique.

Each week, four new chefs compete by relying on one of four culinary skills: frying, grilling, baking or speed. The winner of each episode will gain a spot in the finale and a chance to take home the coveted gold medal and $50,000.

Slomovits’ episode is focused on speed, which he has perfected throughout his career, including leading a massive Delaware North culinary team in the fast-paced environment of a Major League Baseball stadium.

Slomovits isn’t the first Delaware North culinarian to brave the Chopped kitchen, as nearly a half-dozen other chefs from around the company have appeared in earlier seasons of the show, including an episode that featured four Delaware North Sportservice chefs from MLB ballparks competing against each other in 2014.
