Taste of Space at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex – which Delaware North operates for NASA – celebrated the longstanding importance of art with local favorite food trucks at the inaugural Taste of Space: A Collection of Art & Food event Oct. 19-20. Attendees viewed artwork that commemorates the past and future of space travel while enjoying local food truck fare, wine, beer and other specialty selections.

“The marriage of art and science is something we don’t often have the chance to exhibit at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, so we were excited to offer the Taste of Space event to our visitors,” said Therrin Protze, chief operating officer of Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. “As always, we are hopeful that these opportunities will inspire the next generation of space explorers.”

Rarely seen art from NASA’s archives was on display at Space Shuttle Atlantis® during the limited exhibition, which included works from Andy Warhol, Annie Leibovitz and more. Six art cases throughout the building were filled with 20 space-themed pieces. Attendees also enjoyed interactive art stations with activities such as creating a paper rocket, tin foil hats and ornament painting.

Central Florida’s favorite food trucks at Taste of Space included Chicken Waffle Grill, Sweet City Gelato, Cruisin’ Cuisine, Lee’s Famous Cheesesteaks & Wings, Not Your Mama’s Pancakes and Tamale Co. Food Truck.

Taste of Space attendees also had the opportunity to view the winning films of the Project Mars International Film and Art Competition. Project Mars invited college students and young professionals to visualize the future of NASA’s deep space exploration missions.

Delaware North has been providing food and beverage, as well as retail at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex since 1995. Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is the visitor center at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. It features exhibits and displays, historic spacecraft and memorabilia, shows, two IMAX theaters, and a range of bus tours of the spaceport.
