Delaware North Sportservice teams serve up reimagined favorites for MLB Postseason

The 2019 Major League Baseball (MLB) Postseason is underway, and Delaware North has three ballparks serving fans during the playoff action. The Minnesota Twins, Atlanta Braves and St. Louis Cardinals are all in the running, which means Delaware North Sportservice teams came up with new and exciting menu items to add to the experience.

CBS Sports has a roundup of MLB 2019 Postseason food that includes highlights of Delaware North Sportservice chefs’ limited-time menus.

Target Field embraces “Bomba SZN” with supersized food

“For playoffs, it’s go big or go home, right? Why not do something big?” Target Field ex-ecutive chef Kurt Chenier told WCCO in Minnesota. “I really like the Grand Salami. I’ve done something similar in the past, but never this size. It seems like the big items really do well; they hit social media, people want to take pictures with them.”

Chenier came up with other special “Bomba-themed” foods that will be available throughout the 2019 postseason at Target Field, including the Bomba Brat (two-foot Kramarczuk’s bratwurst, seasoned kraut and spicy mustard); Bomba Pretzel Bat (two-foot pretzel with beer cheese dipping sauce and creole mustard); and the Kepler “Der-fest” Burger (quarter-pound beef burger, Kramarczuk’s bratwurst, beer mustard, sauer-kraut and Swiss cheese, served on a pretzel roll).

The Minnesota Twins will host the New York Yankees in Game 3 on Oct. 7.

SunTrust Park showcases regional favorites with a ballpark twist

The headliner from Chef Pete Smithing and the culinary team at SunTrust Park this Atlanta Braves postseason is the Southern Sidewinder – 18 inches of house-made pork, pimento cheese and jalapeño sausage rope, served with vinegar coleslaw.

“I don’t know where I got the idea for the sausage,” Smithing, executive chef of Delaware North at SunTrust Park, told the Atlanta Business Chronicle. “We were doing a jalapeño cheddar sausage for something else, and I was like, ‘You know, I want to do a pimento cheese sausage,’ and the (chefs) all kind of looked at me. So, I ended up making it. We all tasted it and were like, ‘Yeah that’s really good.’”

Expanding on the regular season Best Darn Steak Sandwich in Baseball, postseason fans can now share The BIGGEST Darn Steak Sandwich in Baseball. The sandwich is 2 lbs. of grilled beef tenderloin with four marinated portobello mushrooms dressed with arugula, crispy onion strings and chunky bleu cheese sauce, all set atop 12 Hawaiian rolls.

For those with a sweet tooth, El Dulce Valiente (The Sweet Brave) will cure any cravings. These loaded dessert nachos with cinnamon sugar-dusted pita chips come with vanilla ice cream, caramel drizzle, red and blue sprinkles and whipped topping.

Busch Stadium celebrates Cardinals being back in the postseason

Busch Stadium is reimagining classics for the postseason. St. Louis Cardinals fans will find a Bud BBQ Pulled Pork Burger (Budweiser BBQ atop a juicy fresh hamburger with pulled pork, pub cheese and pickles) and Shrimp Queso Fiesta Nachos (a bed of nacho chips covered with shrimp queso cheese with roasted corn, diced red peppers, diced green chiles and Cholula hot sauce).

For dessert, fans can try the Dingers Delight: A bowl of fresh-made Dingers Donuts with chocolate and vanilla icing and a scoop of locally made vanilla and chocolate custard, topped with rainbow sprinkles.

As fate would have it, the Cardinals are playing the Atlanta Braves in the National League Division Series (NLDS) – so fans will be able to enjoy Delaware North-created postsea-son food at both ballparks.
