Delaware North Sportservice claims top three spots in PETA’s ‘Top 10 Vegan-Friendly Ballparks’

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) this week announced its “Top 10 Vegan-Friendly Ballparks” list, with Target Field, Globe Life Park in Arlington and Progressive Field taking the top three spots. For Delaware North Sportservice — the food and beverage partner at all three of the aforementioned venues — it matches last year’s mark of three in the top 10, but it’s the first time claiming the top three spots.

The Minnesota Twins’ Target Field took first place this year, claiming its title as champion after being pushed into the runner-up spot by Globe Life Park in Arlington in 2017. PETA noted the Herbivorous Butcher, a vegetarian hot dog stand, as a highlight of the stadium.

Globe Life Park in Arlington took second place. And while it may have dropped in ranking from last year, it wasn’t a slight on the quality of the offerings — including several new vegan options that were added to the menu. PETA called attention to the stadium’s special Ballpark Vegan cart, with meals ranging from nachos to house-made chili.

The Cleveland Indians’ Progressive Field rounded out the top three, making its first appearance in the top 10 since 2011. PETA sang the praise of the ballpark’s vegan grilled cheese, tacos, ice cream, veggie burgers and veggie dogs.

“We take a lot of pride in the wide array of food options we offer at Target Field, so being named the most vegan-friendly ballpark in Major League Baseball is exciting for us,” said Pete Spike, Delaware North’s general manager at Target Field. “More than ever, food is an integral way for how fans engage at games, and we always strive to find innovative ways to diversify menu options so everyone can enjoy that classic ballpark food experience, not just those who like the traditional hot dogs and fries.”
