Bruins, Jacobs family celebrate grand opening of Warrior Ice Arena

The Boston Bruins – owned by Delaware North Chairman Jeremy Jacobs – on Sept. 8 opened the doors to a sparkling new practice facility, Warrior Ice Arena, in Boston’s Allston/Brighton neighborhood.

Mr. Jacobs, CEO of Delaware North’s Boston Holdings Charlie Jacobs and Bruins President Cam Neely mrj_360-6066895were joined by city officials and leadership from New Balance (owner of the facility) at the grand-opening and open house for members of the media.

The state-of-the-art facility returns the team’s practice facility to the city – less than 10 miles from the Delaware North-owned-and-operated TD Garden – and will not only serve the Bruins but also the community. According to Jim Halliday, managing director of New Balance’s Development Group, 75 percent of the arena’s non-Bruins ice time already has been booked, a good portion of it reserved by local high school teams, and there will also be public skating hours.

“For our players, it provides state-of-the-art athletic space. It also offers futuristic amenities that focus both reactively and proactively on their training and medical needs,” Mr. Jacobs said. “For future hockey talent, it’s a chance to experience the sport in a world-class setting. For our fans, this is yet another opportunity to interact with the team and the game that you love. And for our city, it’s a commitment by the Bruins to bring home another Stanley Cup. The Warrior Ice Arena is a substantial investment toward that goal.”
