Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite investing $25 million to add 50 upscale cabins, new activities and renovate resort dining venues

Project is latest in $70 million invested since 2008 in ‘mountain modern’ resort near Yosemite National Park

FISH CAMP, Calif. — November 11, 2018Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite, an award-winning resort just outside the south gate entrance to Yosemite National Park, is making a $25 million investment to expand the variety of lodging and enhance dining and recreation options for visitors exploring the Yosemite-Sierra region.

The centerpiece of the property enhancements is a new, upscale cabin development, the Explorer Cabins at Tenaya Lodge. Also on tap are a modernized restaurant experience, upgrades to the resort’s seasonal outdoor dining and event space, the addition of an aerial trekking park for kids and an expanded fleet of open-air tour buses for custom-curated, guided excursions to Yosemite. The cabins and upgrades are set to debut in summer 2019.

With the $25 million investment, Delaware North, which owns and operates Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite, has invested $70 million to expand and enhance the now 75-acre resort over the last decade.

“Since acquiring Tenaya Lodge in 2001, Delaware North’s vision has always been to create an elevated mountain experience at the doorstep of Yosemite National Park,” said General Manager Paul Ratchford. “This latest investment is part of that long-term vision and an exciting next step for the evolution of the property’s incredible offerings.”

The Explorer Cabins at Tenaya Lodge are 50 stand-alone, two-bedroom cabins. Surrounded by towering sugar pines and incense cedars, the spacious Explorer Cabins offer families, couples and groups of friends a more private, personalized way to experience the beauty and adventure of Yosemite National Park.

“These spacious cabins will offer an escape that also features the perks of our resort,” Ratchford said. “They will be perfect accommodations for someone who wants to explore the Sierra region and Yosemite from a home base in a beautiful natural setting.”

The resort is currently accepting reservations for stays in the two-bedroom Explorer Cabins beginning August 1, 2019.

Since acquiring Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite, Delaware North has continually invested in the guest experience:

  • The company has increased the room count from 244 to 302 and the meeting and event space by more than 12,000 square feet.
  • It has also introduced the upscale eatery Embers, as well as the 10,000-square-foot Ascent Spa, complete with a fitness center and 12 treatment rooms.
  • In 2016, the lodge completed a $5 million renovation to main lodge guest rooms and corridors.
  • In spring 2017, renovations of the 53 cottage room interiors were completed. The cottage rooms were added in 2008.

Delaware North’s commitment to curating a world-class national park resort experience has earned Tenaya Lodge numerous awards and accolodes in recent years. The property was named a top resort in Northern California in the 2018 Conde Nast Traveler Reader’s Choice Awards, is a three-time winner of the Sunset Travel Awards,  and is a recipient of the 5-Key Green Key Award for its eco-friendly practices.
