Delaware North Companies Food and Beverage Director at Tenaya Lodge Earns Hospitality Grand Master Certification

Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite’s Sean Mangold achieves highest dining hospitality certification

FISH CAMP, Calf.  (June 20, 2013) – Sean Mangold, director of food and beverage at Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite, has earned the highest level certification offered by the Federation of Dining Room Professionals (FDRP): Hospitality Grand Master (HGM).

Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts, a global hospitality management company that serves millions of guests at several other national parks, owns and operates Tenaya Lodge, a destination resort and spa located near the south gate of Yosemite National Park.

Mangold was previously certified as a Dining Room Master (DRM) and is also an FDRP-accredited trainer. He has guided front-of-the-house managers at Tenaya Lodge and at other Delaware North locations in completing the Certified Dining Room Professional program. Mangold is Delaware North’s first hospitality professional to earn the prestigious HGM certification.

"Having this caliber of guest service training within our organization is extremely beneficial to Delaware North Companies, and of course to our guests. We are thrilled that Sean has achieved this level of certification," said Christian De Vos, vice president of food and beverage and guest service for Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts.

In late 2012, Mangold served as the trainer for the Certified Dining Room Professional program through the Federation of Dining Room Professionals. Under his instruction, three food and beverage managers and one executive steward – Bob  Mellana, Teresa Shanks, Andrew Platfoot and Matthew Cuthbert, respectively –- completed the program.

The program requires each manager to meet certain prerequisites in career accomplishments, and complete a thorough testing process that verifies they have the experience, knowledge and skills required to perform at the professional level.

Currently, Mangold is administering additional certifications throughout Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts. Four master-level certifications, two professional-level certifications, and multiple associate-level certifications are set to be accomplished by year’s end.
