FARMINGTON, N.Y. – Rush On By was a narrow winner of the $50,000 Shesastonecoldfox Stakes at Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack (FLGR) on Monday. She stubbornly held off the challenge of Single Verse to win the six furlong dash for 2-year-old New York-bred fillies.

The $45,900 earner owned by Chester and Mary Broman remained undefeated in two career starts. She was guided to the three-quarter length victory by jockey Oscar Gomez.

Trainer Chris Progno registered his first FLGR stakes victory in Monday’s fourth race. Progno’s previous stakes win was with Rollicking Affair in the $100,000 H.B.P.A. Stakes at Presque Isle Downs on September 26, 2009

Rush On By completed the six furlong distance in a final time of 1:12.63 and paid $4.40 and $2.50. Single Verse was a close second and returned $2.10.

The $50,000 Shesastonecoldfox Stakes is named after the female thoroughbred that had a memorable 2-year-old season. The M.A. Ferraro-trainee distinguished herself as the best young horse by winning three stakes in 2001, including a victory against male rivals in the $137,900 New York Breeders’ Futurity.

She was voted champion 2-year-old filly by the New York Thoroughbred Breeders’ and is currently a member of the FLGR Hall of Fame.

The sixth running of the $50,000 Shesastonecoldfox completed the 2019 stakes calendar at FLGR. Live thoroughbred action continues at FLGR four days a week until the conclusion of the meet on November 27.
