WEST MEMPHIS, AR (July 24, 2007) – This morning, Southland Park Gaming & Racing President Barry J. Baldwin and Vice President and General Manager Troy Keeping delivered more than $276,332 in funds generated by greyhound racing to city and county officials.

A check in the amount of $105,058.40 was presented to West Memphis Mayor William Johnson. This check will be used by the Boys Clubs and Girls Clubs of West Memphis and by similar non-profit, charitable organizations providing youth services in the city. Baldwin and Keeping also presented Crittenden County Treasurer Larry Miller with a $105,058.40 check for deposit in the county general fund. Funds for these two checks were generated by uncashed winning tickets for the second half of the 2006 racing season at Southland Park Gaming & Racing.

The City of West Memphis received a check from Southland Park Gaming & Racing for $66,215.58 which is the city’s share of ‘odd-cents breakage’ from wagering at the track during the first half of the 2007 racing season.

Southland Park Gaming & Racing runs a total of 33 days designated as “Charity Days” each year for disbursement to community, charitable and other programs as dictated by the state legislation. Since 1990, Southland Park Gaming & Racing has contributed more than $18.71 million dollars to public agencies and private, non-profit organizations as a result of the pari-mutuel racing held at the racetrack and gaming center.
