California’s Sequoia National Park Creates a Family Adventure Package for Visitors

SEQUOIA NATIONAL PARK, Calif. (July 27, 2007) – Sequoia National Park draws numerous visitors to its Giant Forest, home to the world’s most massive trees, and other natural phenomena.

This year, Sequoia has one more reason to draw large crowds. The Family Adventure Package allows groups to take a journey through numerous trails that can span as far as two miles, and allows groups to search for the forest’s “seven wonders.” Using a rented Global Positioning System (GPS) and a High Sierra Field Guide full of clues, families enjoy the wonders of nature while searching for mysterious places within the forest. Once these “wonders” are discovered, they must be recorded using a rented digital camera and turned in at the lodge where “Nature Points” can be earned.

At the end of the trip, explorers who have earned the most points receive prizes for a job well done. The younger members of groups need not worry about winning; they get a keepsake just for their determination.

This all-inclusive package is available from May through the end of October. Beginning at $234 per night, it includes a tote bag with game gear, a High Sierra field guide, two record logs for all of the Nature Points that are earned, prizes, and deluxe accommodations at the Wuksachi Lodge.

Open year round, Sequoia National Park’s Wuksachi Lodge features rooms of cedar and stone that are highlighted by grand fireplaces, natural woods, and panoramic views of the surrounding forest and High Sierra peaks.

Located in the southern Sierra Nevada in California, Sequoia National Park is considered a national gem. It is 400,000 acres of waterfalls, caves, and other natural wonders, including the Giant Sequoia trees and the highest point in the contiguous 48 United States, Mount Whitney.
