Longtime company executive will also play a key role in growth initiatives in Asia
BUFFALO, N.Y. (Oct. 16, 2012) – Delaware North Companies, a global leader in hospitality and food service, today named sports and hospitality veteran Jim Houser to a new leadership role for Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts as chief operating officer.
Currently vice president of administration for Delaware North Companies, Houser will provide leadership to the division’s North American and Australian locations. Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts has operations in national and state parks, operates the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, and manages hotels and luxury resorts in the United States, Canada and Australia.   
He will also play a pivotal role in the company’s initiatives for growth in Asia, including India. Houser will work directly with Rick Abramson, who will become president of Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts and serve in the additional new role of executive chairman of Delaware North Companies Australia and Asia.
Houser’s appointment and other strategic leadership changes were announced by Delaware North Companies President and Chief Operating Officer Charles E. Moran as part of the company’s overall strategy for growth in North America and around the world. The changes take effect Jan. 1, 2013.
Houser brings a strong leadership record from his recent roles at Delaware North overseeing key enterprise-level areas such as construction, supply management, retail and food and beverage, as well as extensive operations experience from serving as chief operating officer for Sportservice. Houser’s most recent position prior to becoming vice president of administration was vice president of facilities project management. Prior to that, Houser held several management positions for Sportservice and also served in human resources and labor relations for Delaware North.
Houser earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Cincinnati and received the inaugural Delaware North President’s Award of Excellence in 2006.
“Jim Houser’s knowledge of the hospitality industry and excellent client relationship management skills will be a critical asset to the leadership team,” Moran said. “He has a strong leadership record in operations and his recent role overseeing enterprise-level key areas will be important to Parks & Resorts and the Australian business.”
