World-class tennis, hospitality on display at TD Garden during Laver Cup tournament

The eyes of the tennis world were on TD Garden in Boston last weekend as it hosted the Laver Cup, an annual international indoor hard court tennis tournament between top men’s players from Europe (Team Europe) and non-European players (Team World). The tournament, named after Australian tennis icon Rod Laver, is in its fourth year after being founded in 2017 by a group that includes tennis champion Roger Federer. Previous tournaments have been held in Prague, Chicago and Geneva (Switzerland).

2021-laver-cup-2“We are dedicated to bringing national and international events to Boston and TD Garden,” said Amy Latimer, president of TD Garden and Delaware North’s chief growth officer. “These events are important to our clients, sponsors and the city. We bid on The Laver Cup over four years ago and were excited to host in 2020, but of course the pandemic pushed it to this September 2021.”

TD Garden, owned and operated by Delaware North, underwent an extensive transformation to host the tournament, including converting the arena bowl to accommodate professional-level tennis and creating VIP hospitality areas throughout the venue and at Patina Restaurant Group’s Banners Kitchen & Tap restaurant adjacent to the arena.

“I am so proud of the exceptional experience the team delivered to the event promoters and their clients,” Latimer said. “The team rose to the occasion, meeting and exceeding all expectations. From ticketing 18,000 guests in five separate sessions, to setting up seats and staging that surpassed the [2004] Democratic National Convention, to new COVID-19 protocols, to VIP hospitality throughout all our premium spaces – including a Banners restaurant takeover. The promoter was thrilled, the fans had a great experience and our Boston team at TD Garden, Sportservice and Patina pulled off an amazing world-class event like no other.”
