Sportservice unveils a variety of options for guests at 10 MLB ballparks across the country
BUFFALO, N.Y. (April 8, 2013) – Delaware North Companies Sportservice is unveiling an array of new merchandise, food and beverage items, and premium concepts in cooperation with 10 Major League Baseball teams for the 2013 season.
“Each year we strive to exceed our guests’ expectations by innovating unique ballpark food and exclusive retail, and this year is no different,” said Sportservice President John Wentzell. “We listen to our guests, we pay attention to trends and we work with the teams to deliver crowd-pleasing favorites each and every year.”
Each Sportservice team created a variety of market-specific offerings for the 2013 season.  For example, guests can expect to find new items such as fried pickle spears in St. Louis; Tex-Mex nachos in Arlington, Texas; and the Comiskey Burger in Chicago.
Retail Highlights for the 2013 Major League Baseball season include:
·         The Reds Team Shop at Great American Ball Park underwent a nearly $1 million renovation project to improve customer flow in accommodating large crowds on game days.
·         The New Era Shop is a new retail experience at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, featuring more than 200 unique styles of New Era caps, including all 30 Major League team caps and all five minor-league affiliates of the Baltimore Orioles. The Orioles have also added a popular women’s line: PINK by Victoria’s Secret.
·         Available only for a limited time exclusively at The D Shop in Comerica Park, the Detroit Tigers have released the “Swinging Kitten” logo used from 1967 to 1977 for use on select merchandise. The D Shop will also debut a ladies loungewear line.
·         Delaware North Companies Sportservice and the Chicago White Sox are commemorating the 30th anniversary of the “Winning Ugly” season with a rebranded Scoreboard Shop and the Head First Cap Shop as ’83 Stores; each features retro White Sox apparel and novelties. Additional selections from Chicago Sports Depotwill be featured on its website, along with online exclusives for the 2013 season.

In addition, Texas, St. Louis, Milwaukee, Baltimore, Minnesota, and San Diego will extend popular retail lines, including those of Pink by Victoria’s Secret, Majestic, 5th & Ocean, Adidas, andNike. Sportservice in Cincinnati is adding merchandise and apparel from several brands now producing Reds-branded items: Mitchell & Ness, Dynasty, American Needle, Ty, Red Jacket and Pink. Fans at many Sportservice locations can look for a new batting practice cap from New Era, which features a high-tech performance diamond print fabric, and new T-shirts, tanks and fleece pullovers from the ’47 Brand. In addition, many stores have expanded several lines of women’s and children’s clothing.
Concessions and Suites Highlights for 2013 include:
Progressive Field in Cleveland - The Collection Auto Club is a new, chef-attended 5,000-sqaure-foot private club featuring all-inclusive cuisine and beverages. Guests can enjoy a salad bar, seasonal fruit, antipasto, a salsa station, carving stations, a rice station, the Food Network Hot Dog Bar, and a dessert station. New to the general concessions will be local favorites Pinzone’s Gourmet Sausage and Brats Westside Market and T.J.’s Butcher Block Burgers.
Busch Stadium in St. Louis - Double Play Tap and Grill is a new food and beverage concept where fans can find gourmet burgers, ultimate nachos and specialty drinks. Fried Pickle Spears, Kohn's Kosher Dog andPastrami Sandwich are new this year. Dizzy’s Diner locations have been beefed up by the addition of The Horseshoe, an open-faced burger consisting of two beef patties topped with French fries and cheese sauce. Fans in the suites can look for the addition of the Asian sampler, which consists of lettuce cups, pot stickers and crab Rangoon. Also new are the Cajun steak salad, broccoli salad, bases loaded baked potato salad, and steak fries
Rangers Ballpark at Arlington, Texas - Texas Sized 24, an eatery with a menu boasting food items that are either 24 inches long or that weigh 24 ounces. Selections include the now famous “Boomstick” hot dog, The Sausage Slugger, the MVP (most valuable pretzel), and a 24-inch, brisket-topped quesadilla named the Murph-A-Dilla. Casa de Fuego is a new Tex-Mex eatery. Its signature nachos are named after Rangers reliever Robbie Ross. Outside the ballpark gates on game days guests can enjoy the Ballpark Express Catering food truck, which features several chef-inspired tastes from inside the stadium. On non-game days the truck will make spot appearances throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth region.
PETCO Park in San Diego –The San Diego Padres partnered with Phil's BBQ, a local favorite, to feature its pulled pork, tri-tip sandwiches and ribs. Local chain Wings n' Things will feature fresh chicken strips and freshly made breadsticks. The Ballast Point Beer Garden area will feature Ballast Point crafted beers, along with fresh grilled sausages and sliders served in a beer-garden setting.
U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago - The popular toppings that make up the Comiskey Dog are now available to White Sox fans as the Comiskey Burger. Guests may choose either a double or a triple cheeseburger topped with “Chitown Pico,” a relish salsa made with all the Chicago Dog ingredients (sport peppers, neon green relish, diced tomatoes, and onions). Bull’s BBQ, pulled pork sandwiches named and created by longtime fan-favorite Greg Luzinksi, will be available at two BBQ locations. In response to guests’ feedback, Sportservice is providing apple juice and 2 percent milk for the younger fans in two sections. In addition, The Miller Lite Party Porch is a new, catered area designed to accommodate groups of 50 guests. It includes upgraded seating and tables and unbeatable outfield views. 
Miller Park in Milwaukee–The Brewers will servefresh Spaghetti -n- a Meatball – fresh mozzarella and spaghetti stuffed into a jumbo ground beef, veal and pork meatball, simmered in marinara sauce and topped with provolone cheese. The signature In-House Smoked Beef Brisket Sandwich features a smoked beef brisket topped with a house-made tangy BBQ Sauce, creamy horseradish and pickle, served with a corn-dusted Kaiser roll. The Chorizo Falafel Wrap is a black bean and chorizo falafel, tomato and lettuce topped with avocado-lime cream, served in a gordita wrap.
Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore - The Triple Crown Sandwich, an Old Bay Hot Dog topped with Oriole Park’s famous Bacon on a Stick and pulled pork, is featured at the Jack Daniel’s Grill on Eutaw Street. It’s also a special at Dempsey’s Brew Pub & Restaurant, where it’s served as a slider. TAKO Korean BBQ can be found on the main concourse and featuresKorean Beef Steak Tako, Korean Chicken Tako, Edamame Bao, BBQ Pork Bao, and a Gluten-free Pad Thai Noodle Salad. The Walk Off at Dempsey’sis an Old Bay Roma sausage in a pretzel roll topped with, house-made Old Bay crab dip. Finally, guests can enjoy the Crab Waffle Fries – waffle fries served with old bay crab dip – on the main concourse and upper deck.
Target Field in MinneapolisIn addition to returning favorites, Sportservice has added Sheyboygan Sausage Co., and celebrity chef Andrew Zimmern’s AZ Canteen, a food truck featuring the Canteen Burger, a lamb-goat blend fully dressed with house-made chips. Twins fans will also be able to grab St. Paul favorite Mac’s Fish and Chips, the creation of former Minnesota North Star Tom McCarthy. In addition, Sportservice will serve Panino’s Baked Sandwiches of North Oaks, Minn., which feature a secret dough recipe in baked sandwiches made with various fresh-prepared fillings.
Great American Ballpark at Cincinnati - Sportservice has cooked up a number of new flavors, including a unique Italian Burger; two burgers are topped with grilled salami, provolone and Swiss cheeses, shredded lettuce, tomato, shaved onion, red wine vinaigrette and mayo, all served on a toasted cornmeal roll. Other new concessions items for Reds fans include a lo mein noodle action station; the Macho Nacho, nachos topped with sour cream, guacamole, a pico of the month, onions and fresh-grilled jalapeno peppers; and the Smoked Prime Rib Sandwich, grilled in au jus and served on a baguette. It’s topped with aged provolone and either creamy horseradish sauce, sweet whole grain mustard or spicy Italian relish.
Comerica Park in Detroit - New items at the expanded Michigan Craft Beer Stand include Bacon on a Stick, a ¼-pound smoked pork belly dipped in maple syrup on a stick, Deep Fried Red Hot Sausage, Sausage, Rajun Cajun Deep Fried in-Shell Peanuts, Grilled Soft Pretzel served with a side of Beer Cheese, and the Potacho, a marriage of potato and nachos. Street Tacos in brisket and pork are also new from the Food Network. Tigers fans also have two new burgers to choose from: The Late Night Burger – a patty topped with bacon, fried egg and cheese; and The Nacho Burger – a patty topped with nacho cheese, tortilla chips and salsa.
