Concessionaire will operate lodge, restaurant, shuttle service and retail stores
BEDFORD, Va.(April 22, 2013) –Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts, a global leader in hospitality, has been awarded a 10 year contract for management of Peaks of Otter Lodge and Restaurant, as well as its retail stores and shuttle service. Peaks of Otter Lodge is located along the Blue Ridge Parkway at Milepost 86 in Bedford, Va.

We will also bring our environmental management system GreenPath, and our customer service process GuestPath, to ensure the highest quality of service to our guests in Virginia.”

The Lodge and its services will be operated seasonally. Peaks of Otter Lodge is a 63-room facility offering scenic views of Abbott Lake. The Peaks of Otter Restaurant features home-cooked meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Delaware North will also operate the gift shop and the Country Store, which serves area campers and hikers.

In addition, Delaware North will provide catering for special events and vending. It will also operate the Sharp Top Bus, which transports passengers to within 1,500 feet of the top of Sharp Mountain.

Delaware North Parks & Resorts division has over 20 years of experience in a variety of venues. It currently holds management contracts with the National Park System in Yosemite, Yellowstone and Grand Canyon. Additionally, Delaware North is operating its first season with Shenandoah National Park. Shenandoah is located 2.5 hours north of Bedford, Va.

The Blue Ridge Parkway connects Shenandoah National Park to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee. The Parkway is almost 500 miles long and crosses through the states of North Carolina and Virginia along the Blue Ridge mountain range. Land alongside the Parkway is maintained by the National Park Service and, in many places, borders land protected by the U.S. Forest Service.
