Delaware North Companies Continues to Bring More New Dining Concepts to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport

Travel hospitality provider continuing remake by adding Sushi Maki, Freshens to supplement Pasha’s, Chef Allen’s 2 Go, Casa de Fresco and Dunkin’ Donuts

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (May 12, 2010) – Delaware North Companies Travel Hospitality Services, one of the world’s leading airport food and retail providers, is continuing to expand and enhance food and beverage options for travelers at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

Since mid-2009, Delaware North has added several popular regional and national restaurant concepts and is currently adding two more, plus making a significant investment to add digital menu ordering throughout its food and beverage operations at the airport later this year.

“Travelers to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport have seen and tasted some big changes over the last six months, and there are more on the way,” said Brian Bowdish, Delaware North’s general manager at the airport. “We are committed to providing world-class food and beverage choices that reflect what South Florida travelers desire.”

Delaware North recently opened an airport outlet of Sushi Maki, the acclaimed South Florida sushi and seafood restaurant that has three other locations in the region. Sushi Maki was voted one of the top 50 sushi restaurants in the United States by the Wall Street Journal and is a preferred Sushi caterer for a number of South Florida luxury hotels.

Coming soon to the airport will be Freshens, the nation’s largest frozen yogurt and smoothie company and a long-standing Delaware North partner. Freshens’ “fuel for the mind and body” includes smoothies, juices, frozen treats and other healthy snacks.

They join a Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport food and beverage lineup that now includes other Delaware North operations:

Pasha’s.  The popular Mediterranean restaurant with seven locations in Miami-Dade County opened in December at the airport. Pasha’s features in-seat dining and grab-‘n’-go healthy, all-natural Mediterranean cuisine such as gourmet wraps, omelets, soups, grilled kabobs, vegetarian choices, bakery items and desserts.

Chef Allen’s 2 Go.  Developed by noted South Florida Chef Allen Susser, who has partnered with Delaware North at the airport, Chef Allen’s 2 Go has several kiosks throughout the airport. The menu offers Susser’s signature Caribbean and Latin American-influenced dishes, including salads, wraps and deserts made from local ingredients. Susser is also conducting periodic cooking classes at the airport and in January hosted two fellow Taste of the NFL chefs for a cook-off.

Casa de Fresco.  Another regional favorite, Casa de Fresco, opened earlier this year at the airport to offer travelers “floribbean” flavor in dishes incorporating cilantro and mango juice. Its menu includes healthy, regional fare such as chicken mojito sandwiches, floribbean tuna, salads and wraps.

Dunkin’ Donuts.  The beloved national brand landed at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport late last year, with 10 locations throughout the airport to provide busy travelers with coffee, specialty coffees and fresh bakery items.

Under the leadership of division President Matt King and a new business development team, Delaware North Companies Travel Hospitality Services has built upon its groundbreaking Gateway ConceptSM at Fort Lauderdale airport with these new concepts.

“Because few things are more important to travelers than great experiences, Delaware North Companies Travel Hospitality Services is committed to introducing more iconic national brands and unique local and regional concepts in dining and shopping at airports across the country,” King said.

Last year, Delaware North at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport also became the first airport concessionaire in the United States to obtain ISO 14001 registration of its GreenPath® environmental management system to the standards of the International Organization for Standardization.

Delaware North’s operation at the airport is a good corporate citizen as well. It has worked with Broward Partnership for the Homeless to offer job opportunities to disadvantaged adults and has contributed more than 3 tons of food to the Feeding South Florida organization so far in 2010. In January, it donated 17,000 bottles of water to the Haiti earthquake relief effort.
