Each day at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, guests have the rare opportunity to meet veteran astronauts from NASA’s famous Astronaut Corps during the Astronaut Encounter experience. KENNEDY SPACE CENTERKennedy Space Center Visitor Complex became a hands-on science lab for about 150 top math, science and engineering students from Palm Beach County’s Wellington High School who took a customized tour Friday, which included meeting NASA astronaut Jon McBride and participating in simulations and an engineering challenge.

When guests visit the new Space Shuttle AtlantisSM attraction, they will be treated to a sight previously seen only by astronauts in space – Atlantis tilted at a 43.21-degree angle with its payload bay doors open as if it has just undocked from the International Space Station (ISS). What guests may not realize is how rare it is for the payload bay doors to be open when Atlantis is not in space.
