Southland Casino Racing donates $111,000 to Boys & Girls Club

Southland Casino Racing has continued its philanthropic commitment to the community with a $111,000 donation to the Boys & Girls Club earlier this month.

Southland Casino Racing, which is owned and operated by Delaware North, has long been invested in the youth of West Memphis, Ark. This most recent donation is in addition to multiple charitable donations to the community over the years. The donation will go toward improving upon and expanding Boys & Girls Club facilities and programs in West Memphis, giving children safe options for after school and weekend activities. On top of the facility in West Memphis, they also provide satellite after-school programs for kids around Crittenden County.

“We want to help the families and children in the community here, so that’s the backbone of our giving,” said Southland President and General Manager Dave Wolf. “Whatever we can do to help the kids to get a great start, have a successful life and prosper here.”

As a show of appreciation, the mayor presented Southland with a key to the city and proclaimed September 19 as “Southland Casino Racing Day,” in honor of its many years of contributions to the community.

“There have been years where Southland has been the reason we’ve been able to stay open and serve kids,” said Darin McCollum, executive director of the Crittenden County Boys & Girls Club. “But more importantly, most other years they’re the reason we’re able to expand and serve additional kids and offer the youth in our community a lot more opportunities.”
