Delaware North’s travel division this week announced a $10,000 donation to the Bob Hope USO at Los Angeles International Airport. The donation comes after a fundraising campaign in which Delaware North sold commemorative USO cups at its 15 food and beverage outlets throughout the airport, with all proceeds going to benefit the USO.
“The USO has an important mission in serving our military members and their families as they transit LAX to and from duty stations around the world,” said Kevin Kelly, president of Delaware North’s travel division. “This donation is a way to show our appreciation for the military and the countless sacrifices they make for our country and freedom.”
The Bob Hope USO center at LAX features a canteen with food and snacks available 24 hours a day; a lounge area with televisions; a movie theater room; restrooms with showers; gaming stations; a nap room; a family zone and an outdoor patio. All services are provided free-of-charge to current military personnel and their families. Last year, more than 105,000 troops and military family members used the center.
“We are particularly honored to partner with the amazing people of Delaware North, a company renowned for its own travel hospitality services, as we provide hospitality to our troops and their brave families traveling via LAX,” said Bob Kurkjian, president of Bob Hope USO.
“Across our eight-county service region, this year, Bob Hope USO will provide hospitality, entertainment, family support programs and USO events to over 250,000 troops and military family members,” Kurkjian added. “As an organization funded entirely by charitable donations, we could not do without the generosity of companies like Delaware North.”
