With Major League Baseball’s Spring Training underway, Delaware North Sportservice’s operations at venues in Arizona and Florida are also back in action.
In Phoenix, Ariz., the Milwaukee Brewers opened their newly renovated spring training venue, American Family Fields of Phoenix (formerly Maryvale Stadium). The Delaware North Sportservice team commemorated this with nine new concessions items that feature some Wisconsin fan favorites, including fried Wisconsin cheese curds, Leinenkugel’s Bernie Barrelman Ale, exclusive Brewers-themed beer and the County Stadium-style footlong brat — a Wisconsin brat that’s topped with Secret Stadium Sauce (the latter of which was developed by Delaware North’s Rick Abramson, a Wisconsin native).
At Camelback Ranch in Glendale, Ariz., the Spring Training home of the Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers, fans are enjoying new menu items created for the 2019 season. The culinary roster includes loaded pizza tots, smoked mac-and-cheese and chicken and waffle skewers, along with the popular 18-inch pizza slice.
At Scottsdale Stadium (San Francisco Giants) in Scottsdale, Ariz., a party deck that boasts a grill and several bars was added in the outfield. The deck is a temporary amenity and is being used to gauge the flow and demand in anticipation of stadium renovations scheduled to begin after this year’s spring training.
At Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium (St. Louis Cardinals and the Florida Marlins) in Jupiter, Fla., new menu items and portables were added for the year. Larry Johnson, who is executive chef for Delaware North at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, noted street tacos and BBQ nachos among the new offerings. Additionally, the grab-and-go portable offers gluten-free options for guests.
At Joker Marchant Stadium (Detroit Tigers) in Lakeland, Fla., on-site Delaware North General Manager Tom Higley also noted the addition of new food, beverage and retail merchandise to his operations. Some highlights include the Throwing Smoke BBQ stand, a build-your-own mac-and-tater stand and a daiquiri bar.
