KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. (May 14, 2007) – Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is launching a national television campaign, consumer promotion and family vacation sweepstakes. It’s all part of the launch of Florida’s only new attraction, Shuttle Launch Experience, opening Memorial Day weekend on May 25. Included in the national launch will be new print-at-home ticketing, making it easy for visitors to plan their Florida vacation hassle-free.

E-Ticketing for admission will be available at for consumers to print tickets at home. Visitors with pre-printed tickets will bypass the ticket booths for a speedier entry to Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. Lunch With an Astronaut, NASA Up Close tour and Cape Canaveral: Then and Now tour tickets can be printed as well.

The new national marketing campaign featuring three :30 second television spots focuses on the excitement of the $60 million new Shuttle Launch Experience. The television campaign breaks May 13 on leading network and cable television outlets including Discovery Channel, Sci-Fi Channel and Travel Channel.

A newspaper insert will be featured in more than 1,200 key U.S. Sunday papers on May 13 and 20, offering travelers $5.00 savings on admission to Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. Park admission is regularly priced at $38 plus tax for adults and $28 plus tax for children age 3-11 years.

The newspaper insert is themed with a special Summer Blast-Off sweepstakes with a series of prizes: two Florida vacations for four people including a private guided tour of Kennedy Space Center, Shuttle Launch Experience and Family ATX® (Astronaut Training Experience); three Kennedy Space Center vacations including three-night stay for four people; and 25 shopping sprees valued at $150 on Sweepstakes can be entered online at or via mail with entry form.

Under the guidance of NASA and veteran Space Shuttle astronauts, Shuttle Launch Experience will take visitors on their own journey of the Space Shuttle’s rush to Earth’s orbit, launching into space in the shuttle in a fully vertical position. This unprecedented experience will send visitors through the sensations of launching into Earth’s orbit from Kennedy Space Center, just east of Orlando. The design team, NASA astronauts and renowned attraction experts created this authentic experience, deploying sophisticated motion technology, special effects seats and high fidelity visual and audio presentations.

Shuttle Launch Experience combines the detailed accounts of astronaut experiences with the expertise of premiere design engineers to produce an experience unique to attractions around the world. The technical highlights include an all-to-real simulation of the space shuttle’s eight and a half minute ascent into orbit, custom-designed crew cabins with unprecedented vertical range, high-definition audiovisual effects, and advanced seating effects to maximize the reality of the experience.
