Miami Valley Gaming, which Delaware North owns and operates in partnership with Churchill Downs Inc., recently cut the ribbon to celebrate the opening of a new high-limit area and an additional patio with gaming amenities.
The ceremony took place Oct. 20, punctuating a $5 million upgrade to the facility that was based heavily on its popularity and customer feedback.
“The vision for this was we opened up an expanded gaming patio on the south side of our building a little over a year and a half ago, and it’s just been overwhelmingly popular with our guests,” said Director of Gaming Roger Bryant. “So we’ve been planning this for about a year now.”
Inside the venue, the high-limit area’s growth was also the result of increased demand.
“We’ve basically doubled the size of our high-limit area,” said Director of Marketing Jerry Abner. “These are things our customers asked for. It’s going to add over an additional couple hundred gaming machines to our floor. When we were at peak capacity nights, weekends and holidays, it was hard to keep up with the demand, so this is going to help us keep up with that.”
The completion of the project — which also included a makeover of the central bar — brings the venue’s total number of video lottery terminals to more than 1,800.
“We have the classic reel games that everybody loves and then the latest and greatest video games,” said Gaming Tech Supervisor Deron Wolfe.
