Two Delaware North gaming employees have been honored for their outstanding work for the company, commitment to customer service and positive relationships with their managers and colleagues.
Becky Showalter, a human resources generalist at Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack in West Virginia, was named gaming’s leader of the year, and Patricia Staszak, a player rewards representative at Hamburg Gaming near Buffalo, N.Y., was named gaming’s associate of the year.
The awards were presented by Brian Hansberry, president of Delaware North’s gaming business, during 
the 2015 Delaware North Gaming Management Conference this week at the company-owned-and-operated Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite.
Showalter began at Wheeling Island as a human resources coordinator in 2010 and was promoted to her current role in 2013. She was recognized for not only her focus on recruiting and employee retention but also her work ethic, becoming a certified GuestPath trainer and assistance for Delaware North’s opening of Miami Valley Gaming and other locations.
“Since I started at Wheeling, Becky has been my ‘go to’ person for everything and anything that I needed,” said Jim Garland, director of racing.
Staszak has worked at Hamburg Gaming for eight years, and “embodies and personifies our GuestPath standards each and every day as evidenced by guest comments,” according to her nomination. She also works as Hamburg’s GreenPath coordinator.
“Trish is an ideal employee – reliable, dependable, punctual, hard-working and a team player,” said Kelly Stoj, Staszak’s supervisor.
