“Frank” The Traditional All-Beef Hot Dog Is Named Cleveland Indians Official Hot Dog In “Signature Dog” Promotion

Fans Choose the Incumbent “Frank” Over “Smokey” and” Burnie”


BUFFALO, N.Y. (July 13, 2007) – The results are in … and the Cleveland Indians fans have voted the tried and true “Frank,” the traditional Sugardale all-beef hot dog, as their Signature Dog over Smokey” a Polish-style smoked sausage and “Burnie” – a red-hot style dog. 

The “Signature Dog Promotion,” created by Delaware North Sportservice in conjunction with Sugardale Foods and the Cleveland Indians, allowed fans to vote at Jacobs Field and Online at www.indians.com from May 31-July 2. 

The polish-style smoked sausage and red-hot recipes were created by Sugardale for the Signature Dog promotion. “Frank” will be officially announced to the fans at the July 13th game vs. Kansas City at Jacobs Field. 

“We were very pleased to have worked with Sugardale and the Indians to give the fans of Cleveland a chance to vote for the ‘Signature Dog’, said Greg Costa, general manager, Delaware Sportservice, Cleveland. “The fans seemed to enjoy the process of tasting and voting and when all was said and done, they went with the traditional hot dog.”
