April 3, 2008, London...An extraordinary week hosting world leaders, winning awards and pleasing football fans has again highlighted the new standards being set by Arsenal Football Club’s Emirates Stadium.
During the last week of March, Emirates Stadium hosted an international summit between Britain and France culminating in an agreement signed between British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
Delaware North, the hospitality and food service providers for Emirates Stadium, also won the Stadia Award at the Cost Sector Catering Awards, considered to be major recognition within the catering industry.
And British football fans reaffirmed their belief that they have better access to better quality food offerings at Emirates Stadium than at any other Premier League Stadium, according to the 2007/2008 Premier League National Fan Survey.
Delaware North Companies UK Managing Director Simon Dobson said the last week of March had shown why Emirates Stadium was named the Visit London Business Venue of the Year.
“This is one of the few places in the world that can host an international football friendly one night, followed by an international summit attended by two major world leaders the next.
“The next time many of the box holders attend the football, they’ll know that Government Ministers and high level officials from Britain and France ate from the corporate menu while negotiating part of the agreement announced by the British Prime Minister and French President in Emirates Stadium’s Royal Oak Room.
“Those attending the Diamond Club will know that they receive the same quality of fine dining as was provided to the summit leaders. The menu in the Diamond Club was:
- Confit of Scottish Wild Salmon with flakes of Icelandic Salt Cod, Mouli and Cucumber Salad, Horseradish Sauce
- Roast Breast of Gressingham Duck with Jasmine Tea Sauce, Turnip Gratin & Spring Vegetables
- Charlotte of Caramelised Crassane Pears, Cinnamon and Vanilla Ice-cream
“We were thrilled when our innovation and excellent service were recognised at the Cost Sector Catering Awards. Winning the Stadia Award is a remarkable achievement after less than two years of operations. The awards and fan surveys demonstrate that Emirates Stadium has become one of the world’s best venues and is setting a benchmark for others.
“Delaware North is proud to be setting new standards with our partners at Emirates Stadium and Wembley Stadium, and look forward to working with new partners as we grow our business.”
