Mouthwatering ballpark fare continues to hit the field

Major League Baseball entered its second full week of action, and Delaware North Sportservice chefs have continued to unveil innovative new dishes that will delight baseball fans all season long. Here is a roundup of some more of the items hitting ballparks this season:

Target Field – Minnesota Twins
A major new addition for Twins fans this season is Bat & Barrel, an immersive new dining area open to all ticket holders that features five distinctive food and beverage experiences and showcasing local restaurants, breweries and distilleries.

Bat & Barrel, which replaces the Metropolitan Club area, will have three food-specific opportunities: an entrée section with offerings from Murray’s (blue cheese-crusted, bacon- wrapped tenderloin), Red Rabbit (chicken parmesan) and Baja Haus (pan-seared barramundi); an appetizer or small plate area with offerings from CRAVE (burger sliders), Baja Haus (tuna poke), Hell’s Kitchen (Impossible Burger), Ike’s (Tavern Burger) and Red Cow (Tennessee Hot Chicken or MN Nice!); as well as a quick-serve counter with offerings from Hot Indian Foods (Hot Indian Frittes), Baja Haus (classic ceviche), Kramarczuks (bratwurst), Red Cow (brisket poutine) and a selection of locally cured meats, cheeses and fruit. Other features throughout the 2018 season will include brunch items for day games and 100 percent grass-fed beef specials with Minnesota’s Thousand Hills Cattle Company. Multiple bars within Bat & Barrel will feature local and domestic beer options such as Anheuser-Busch, Summit, Surly, Fulton and more. Tattersall Distilling has also partnered on developing specialty cocktails.

Great American Ball Park – Cincinnati Reds
Leading off in Cincinnati is the Goetta Fry Box (served with fries or tots, with the offering topped with goetta gravy, bacon, shredded cheddar cheese and green onions), which joins other new additions, including Queen City Wicked Sausages, a BLT Dog, Smokehouse Bowl and the Triple Play (smoked turkey wings, chicken wings and pork wings). And for dessert, fans can look forward to Hot Fudge Cakes in a Cup from local favorite Frisch’s.

Progressive Field – Cleveland Indians
A dish already making waves with Indians fans is The Flamethrower, a pulled pork sandwich topped with bacon jam, pork belly, chipotle BBQ sauce, green apple slaw, and “Flaming Hot” Cheetos. Other new dishes include Tres Tacos (three flour tortillas with choice of chicken or pork, salsa, queso blanco and sour cream), Top-N-Go Nachos (Doritos or Fritos topped with nacho cheese), Torta De Pollo sandwich (achiote chicken, lettuce, tomato, chipotle mayo and guacamole), and a new local partnership with Melt, which created the Cheesy Bacon Mac Melt.

Comerica Park – Detroit Tigers
Delaware North’s lineup at Comerica Park includes a Brisket Cheddar Corn Muffin (smoked brisket, cheddar cheese and jalapeno peppers baked into a corn muffin), an Apple Pie Egg Roll (a classic Chinese wonton filled with apple pie filling and then covered in cinnamon sugar), the Italian Grinder sandwich (ground Italian sausage, topped with grilled peppers and onions, provolone cheese and marinara sauce), Buffalo Cauliflower (cauliflower bites tossed in hot sauce and served with celery sticks and blue cheese dipping sauce) and a Wet Burrito (Spanish-style rice, corn and black bean salsa, shredded cheese, lettuce, pico de gallo and jalapeños in a flour tortilla — topped with enchilada sauce).
