Delaware North honored for 1862 Bar concept at Australia’s Adelaide Airport

Delaware North recently received an Excellence in Customer Service and Airport Retailing award at Australia’s Adelaide Airport.

The award – in the Food & Beverage category and specific to the company’s 1862 Bar concept – was accepted by Lucky Logothetis, Delaware North’s general manager at the airport. The airport has a total of 39 retailers, including 16 in food and beverage.

The Delaware North-operated 1862 Bar – a lounge-style establishment – is a nod to the founding year of adelaideairport360-1574837Australia’s Coopers Brewery. Logothetis discussed a bit of the backstory.

“Coopers Brewery is an iconic South Australian-family-owned business with similar origins to Delaware North’s founders,” he said. “It has remained a close family business and is well-known throughout Australia and New Zealand. Delaware North partnered with the Cooper family as the preferred provider and thus the Coopers Ale House was set up at the Adelaide Airport when we began operations in 2005. After opening, there was an opportunity to take on the retail space next door, and we ventured into the 1862 Bar brand in mid-2005.

“The 1862 Bar is managed by Annette O’Donnell, and her team provides exceptional customer service – from the food offering to the knowledge of the variety of Coopers’ beers on offer. This award is reflection of the great work all our staff do in the background to achieve the great result,” Logothetis said.
