Delaware North honors Bud Selig at Global Sports Summit

Delaware North was on-hand to help pay tribute to former Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig as he was given the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Global Sports Summit last week in Aspen, Colo. Along with other distinguished panelists from the sports world, Delaware North Chairman Jeremy Jacobs toasted Selig for his years of service and many contributions to Major League Baseball and professional sports.

Selig served as the MLB commissioner for 17 years and was also the owner of the Milwaukee Brewers – chairman_rick_gss_360-6974208a longtime baseball partner of Delaware North Sportservice – for more than 20 years. The other panelists in attendance to honor Selig included Chicago Bulls and Chicago White Sox Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf, New York Mets Owner and Chairman Fred Wilpon and Pittsburgh Pirates Chairman Robert Nutting.

Prior to the dinner honoring Selig, Delaware North sponsored a cocktail reception, which featured a selection of hors d’oeuvres prepared by Patina Restaurant Executive Chef Paul Lee. The menu included lobster profiterole, trout gravlax, potato gaufrette and Selig’s favorite game-time meal: hot dogs and Diet Coke.

The reception and dinner took place at the St. Regis Hotel as part of the three-day Global Sports Summit, which is an annual gathering of franchise owners and presidents from the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, European Football and other professional sports teams.

Joining Mr. Jacobs in Aspen to pay tribute to Selig were Delaware North Co-CEO Jerry Jacobs Jr., Executive Vice President and COO Rick Abramson and TD Garden President Amy Latimer, who also oversees the company’s United Kingdom operations.
