A red carpet guided guests to the sun-splashed lawn of the Buffalo-Niagara International Airport, where a special celebration took place Friday in honor of Delaware North’s 100th anniversary. But it wasn’t just the company’s milestone that was cause for celebration.
Leo Ignatowski – a porter/utility associate for Delaware North’s food, beverage and retail operation at the airport – was honored for 50 years of service.
“Leo is an exceptional associate,” said Johnathan Worden, Delaware North’s assistant general manager at the airport. “He takes great pride in his work, and in the several years that I have worked with him, I honestly cannot recall a time that he’s ever missed a day on the job.”
As part of the celebration, Ignatowski was presented a $500 check by General Manager Rich Johnson, Worden and Kevin Kelly, president of Delaware North’s travel hospitality business – all of whom had nothing but praise for the longtime associate.
“We are all extremely proud of Leo,” Johnson said. “It’s certainly fitting that both he and the company are celebrating milestone anniversaries at the same time, because Leo has been a tremendous asset for Delaware North’s team at the airport.”
Asked to reflect on his time with the airport, a smile-bearing Ignatowski said it’s “flown by.”
