aiding Community Foundation for Middle Tennessee
NASHVILLE and BUFFALO, N.Y. (March 1, 2011) – Delaware North Companies Sportservice announced today it is donating $150,000 to the Community Foundation for Middle Tennessee’s relief efforts for the devastating floods that hit the city of Nashville and surrounding areas last May.

Sportservice is the food concessions and retail provider at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, as a proud partner of the National Hockey League’s Nashville Predators. Sportservice is a division of Delaware North Companies, a global leader in hospitality and food service. Both Bridgestone Arena and the Sportservice operations inside the building sustained flood damage.

“Sportservice and our staff at Bridgestone Arena are part of the Nashville community, and we are committed to supporting the communities where we operate,” said Rick Abramson, president of Delaware North Companies Sportservice.

“So many of our loyal Bridgestone Arena fans suffered during the catastrophic flood last year. We want to make sure that the Community Foundation for Middle Tennessee is well-funded and ready to aid Nashville and the region in the future as the organization did so brilliantly during the flood,” Abramson said.

Since 1991, the Community Foundation for Middle Tennessee has been a steward of charitable resources for the community, distributing more than $491 million in grants to nonprofits making a difference. To date, the foundation has received $3.4 million for the Metro Nashville Disaster Response Fund and $5.3 million for the Tennessee Emergency Response Fund.

In December, country music legend Garth Brooks played nine sold-out shows at Bridgestone Arena that raised more than $3 million for the Community Foundation for Middle Tennessee. It has been estimated that more than 140,000 of Brooks’ fans brought $7 million in revenue to the city of Nashville from Dec. 16 to 22.

Delaware North Companies gives more than $3.3 million each year to charitable organizations, focusing on those that work to eradicate hunger, strengthen education and help underprivileged children, especially through sports and culinary programs. The company has also provided assistance to its employees who have been affected by natural disasters.

Sportservice also helps community organizations in Nashville and other locations across the country raise money through its non-profit group volunteer program.
