Company and family to receive Hospitality Management Leadership award
NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (Oct. 27, 2011) – Delaware North Companies, a global leader in hospitality management led by Chairman and CEO Jeremy M. Jacobs, and the Jacobs family will be honored Oct. 27 at the Niagara University College of Hospitality and Tourism Convocation. Delaware North Companies and the Jacobs family will receive the college’s Hospitality Management Leadership award.
"The Jacobs family was chosen to receive Niagara University's College of Hospitality and Tourism Management's Hospitality Leadership Award because they are a locally-based, family-owned business that has created a global corporation operating in the hospitality industry,” said Dr. Eddie Friel, expert in residence of the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Niagara University. “We believe the story of the company's growth and achievements will serve as an inspiration to our students who are choosing the tourism industry as a first choice career. It is an affirmation of the principle that where you start in this industry has nothing to do with where you finish."
The Jacobs family transformed a modest popcorn and peanuts vending business that began in 1915 into one of the world’s premier hospitality management companies. Delaware North remains owned and operated by the Jacobs family and headquartered in Buffalo, N.Y., where it originated. The company’s present-day subsidiaries are leaders in food service, hospitality management, retail, sports facility ownership and management, and gaming venue and racetrack ownership and operation.
