Gideon Putnam Resort Room Renovations Under Way

Delaware North and Saratoga Casino & Raceway-funded project part of 20-year commitment

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y (March 9, 2011)More than $1 million in guest room renovations has begun at Gideon Putnam Resort, which is operated by Delaware North Companies through its Parks & Resorts division.

Delaware North and Saratoga Casino & Raceway in 2008 committed to spending $19.7 million on capital improvements to the resort in Saratoga Spa State Park as part of a 20-year contract with the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation.

Including the current investment of $1.2 million, the venture is now in excess of $6 million. The cap for phase one – which spans five years and is now in year four – is $6.6 million.

This year’s improvements, which are expected to be complete by the end of April, include new beds, chairs, desks, dressers, refrigerators, carpeting and flat-screen televisions in every guest room. In addition, the hotel’s 18 suites will be fitted with pull-out sofa beds.

The current project complements 2009’s effort, when window blinds, duvet covers, sheets and blankets were replaced in guest rooms, along with the bathrooms being fully remodeled.

Putnam’s, the hotel’s restaurant and bar, also received a full makeover in 2009.

Other completed renovations to the hotel include updates to the lobby, gift shop, fitness center, business center and the historic Roosevelt Baths and Spa – which now boasts an updated lobby and relaxation room.

“Our commitment to ensuring Gideon Putnam Resort remains a world-class destination is ongoing,” said Tom Wysocki, the resort’s director of sales and marketing for Delaware North. “This year’s undertaking is all about maximizing comfort for our guests.”
