Sportservice will establish special set-up for remote airport location site
BUFFALO, N.Y. (July 23, 2009) – Delaware North Companies Sportservice, the preferred concessionaire for the Edmonton Oilers and many other professional sports teams, will handle concessions, premium dining and retail for the Rexall Edmonton Indy. The event takes place at the City Centre Airport, July 24 – July 26 in Edmonton, Alberta.
To accommodate the 77,000 fans expected to attend the event, Sportservice will operate 16 concessions stands, 20 portable concessions carts and five premium areas. Sportservice will bring in three portable kitchens and establish hot and cold staging kitchens on the runways to prepare food. Sportservice will bring an additional 22 food and beverage managers/chefs to assist with the culinary operations.
“We’re happy our strong partnership with Northlands has given us an opportunity to operate this exciting event,” said Sportservice General Manager Nathan Richuk. “We’re focused on giving our best effort and exceeding all expectations.”
Sportservice expects fans to devour an estimated 2,000 tubs of popcorn, 9,000 hot dogs, 2,500 chicken sandwiches, 12,000 burgers, 1,500 slabs of ribs, 2,000 smoked brisket sandwiches and 10,000 ice cream novelties. They’ll wash that down with an estimated 220,000 bottles of water and soda.
