John Wentzell is president of Delaware North Companies Sportservice, one of the largest and most successful sports hospitality, food service and retail companies in the world. In addition, he is responsible for Delaware North’s European businesses – ranging from sports stadia to airports and travel destinations.For the last two decades, Wentzell has been a key leader in the sports and entertainment industry including executive roles in arenas, major league sports franchises and mixed-use developments. He joined Delaware North in 1996 as vice president of operations in Boston. Since taking over as president of Delaware North – Boston in 2006, the business experienced record growth and innovation. In addition to the 19,600 seat TD Garden arena – home to the NHL’s Boston Bruins and NBA’s Boston Celtics, Wentzell’s business oversight also included commercial real estate development activities and certain sales and business functions of the Boston Bruins.
In 2011, Wentzell added oversight of Delaware North's diverse international business portfolio to his duties. Those businesses’ are focused in the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand and includes its sports stadia, airport and luxury resort hotel operations.
Wentzell was active in many civic and charitable organizations in Boston and former home markets. He served on the boards of the Boston Municipal Research Bureau, the Massachusetts Salvation Army, the Sports Museum of New England and the Sean McDonough Charitable Foundation among others.
Wentzell and his wife, Carole, reside in Buffalo, N.Y.
