Long-time Yosemite Veteran Leads Iconic and Historic Hotel 
YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, Calif., April 13, 2011—DNC Parks & Resorts at Yosemite, an authorized National Park Service concessioner providing stewardship and hospitality in Yosemite, is pleased to announce the appointment of Brett Archer as General Manager for The Ahwahnee, a full-service, AAA Four-Diamond property that opened in 1927. Archer, a 22-year veteran of working in Yosemite National Park, assumes the role of operating and maintaining this historic property as a destination for thousands of visitors year-round.  With 99 rooms and 24 exterior cottages, The Ahwahnee recently completed a fire and life safety upgrade and underwent a major rehabilitation of its guest rooms, public spaces, kitchen and exterior walkway.  It is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places and has been accepted as a member of Historic Hotels of America.

Serving as the General Manager at Curry Village for the past eight years, Archer brings a sense of pride and enthusiasm to his role at The Ahwahnee.  In his new position he is responsible for overseeing the operations of The Ahwhanee, including the Dining Room, world-renowned Vintners’ Holidays, Bracebridge Dinners, Chefs’ Holidays and managing 260 staff members.  This is his second post at The Ahwahnee, as he served as the Assistant General Manager, the Food & Beverage Manager and the Rooms Manager over the course of 10 years from 1993 to 2003.  He began his career in Yosemite at the Village Hamburger Stand in 1985 and held a variety of positions including Curry Village Assistant Front Desk Manager, Housekeeping Camp Front Desk Manager, Curry Village Front Desk Manager and Housekeeping Camp Manager. Archer is a founding member of DNC Parks & Resorts at Yosemite Green Path® Environmental Management System and the chairman of DNC Parks & Resorts at Yosemite Rewards and Recognition Committee.  He is originally from Compton, Illinois and enjoys relaxing by the Merced River with his family when he’s not making guests happy at The Ahwahnee.
