Glen Aulin High Sierra Camp is open for the season and four additional camps situated in the high elevations of the park’s back country are scheduled to open; Great opportunity for visitors to secure last-minute reservations for these popular camps

YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, Calif., June 20, 2012 — Delaware North Companies (DNC) Parks & Resorts at Yosemite, authorized concessioner for Yosemite National Park, announces 2012 opening dates for the High Sierra Camps. Glen Aulin High Sierra Camp opened on Friday, June 15, and the opening dates for the remaining camps are as follows: May Lake - Friday, June 22; Sunrise - Friday, June 29; Vogelsang - Friday, June 29 and Merced Lake - Saturday, June 30.

The mild winter and early opening of the Tioga Road has allowed the earlier than expected opening of Yosemite National Park’s High Sierra Camps, which are located 5.7 to 10 miles apart along a loop trail in Yosemite's beautiful high country, accessible only by foot or saddle. All High Sierra Camp lodging is in canvas tent cabins with dormitory-style accommodations. Dinner and breakfast are served family-style in a main dining tent featuring hearty fare and vegetarian options.

In addition to announcing the early openings of the High Sierra Camps, DNC is pleased to offer child pricing at $89 per night for adults staying at May Lake from June 22, 2012 through June 28, 2012. Guests staying at Merced Lake three or more nights will receive a discounted rate at $100 per night. This offer is available during the entire 2012 season. Regular pricing for the High Sierra Camps start at $143 per night for adults, which includes accommodations, dinner and breakfast. Box lunches are available for a small additional fee.

Due to high demand, spaces at the High Sierra Camps are reserved in advance on a lottery basis. Applications are posted online at www.YosemitePark.com in September for the following season. Due to early openings and regular cancellations, there is select availability for the 2012 season. Organized multi-day saddle trips are also available.
